Ready to learn a little bit about Photography as you learn a lotta bit about your new digital camera? Come to the Beach and we'll teach you both at the same time in our cool little Digital Camera Workshop.
Say Cheese!
You are now on your 2nd or even 3rd digital camera, and you know how neat they are. But you still use Auto Shoot mode instead of exploring those neat functions that came with your camera. And you need just a little hand-holding to show you how to use them, the best time to use them, etc.
Starting Spring & Summer 2011, we will begin a fun new workshop to help you to explore your digital camera in neat new ways.
Our little group will meet at the Manhattan Beach Pier and take a closer look at each of your cameras. We'll talk about shooting techniques, new angles, new ways of looking at light, the rule of thirds and general composition. Then you're on your own for about an hour when we regroup and head for the classroom.
Workshop Specifics
This workshop is 5-hours long, from 10am - 3pm. We will meet at the pier in either Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach. Please arrive 10 minutes early to avoid any issues. The workshop will begin immediately at 10am. During the first 90 minutes, we will discuss
- The many nifty functions on your digital camera
- How/when best to use those nifty functions
- Thinking about lighting in new ways
- The Rule of Thirds
- Composition & Framing
Then we'll separate so that you can practise what you just learned. You'll be given a pre-determined time and place to meet for lunch. Then we'll take a look at some of the photos that you all just took while at the beach and talk about how you shot them, what settings you used, what you've each discovered about your camera, and if, now that you've seen the result, you would shoot differently. In the end, we will print out some of the photos from your day, and create a nice little album for you to keep and to store your notes in to remind you later of some of your favorite new tips and techniques. And we'll call it a day at 3:pm.
Workshop Level: Beginner
Beginner, Newbie, Aspiring Photographer and the Photo Curious. No prior technical knowledge is required. You do not need to bring a laptop computer to this workshop. Bring only your camera, and a fully charge battery. An extra battery will ensure that your camera stays funtional thoughout the entire session.
