Everyone wants their website to be found in the Search Engines easier, faster and of course cheaper. 
There are 3 general categories of marketing your site in the Search Engines: Paid Ads, Pay-per-Click advertising, and Organic Marketing.
But which one can you afford?  Try Organic Marketing - it's free!

A few years ago, Paid Ads & Pay-per-Click ads were the main ways to get a top-position listing. But that has since evolved because the big-dollar companies were buying up all of the good key words & spots, and small companies couldn't compete. I think of the internet as "The Great Equalizer" because Organic Marketing has since taken hold as a great way for small businesses to get listed. And with a good Organic marketing strategy, you won't have to pay the big bucks to the Search Engines for advertising.

How does Google Rank Websites?

Google lives and breathes one main concept, one main word: Relevance. Very simply, Google (and most all Search Engines) see their value when they can serve up the most relevant information based on your search terms. In other words, when you do a search on the words "Women's Blouses" you don't want to get a bunch of porn sites. The search engines look for the MOST RELEVANT sites based on your terms and serve them up.

2 Ways to becoming 'Relevant' or What is Organic Growth?

There are several ways to make your site more relevant, and most are free. I say 'free' because you won't have to pay Google for search engine placement. But because nothing in life is REALLY free, you'll need to take a little time to become an expert at your own business. But that's no big deal, right? Because you're ALREADY an expert, right?

Here are 2 of the BEST WAYS to make your site more 'Relevant' to the Search Engines:

1. Content is King: Sites that offer new information on a regular basis are considered to be more 'important' or 'relevant' to a visitor than a site that stays static. Each month, send me a new little article to add to your website. When one of my website clients asks me to update or add to their site, I make sure to 'Ping' the Search Engines to let them know that they should re-crawl your site. Over time, your site will grow beautifully and will be listed higher and higher in the rankings. But 'Pinging' your site when no changes have been made will alert the Search Engines that you are trying to cheat, so beware of over-pinging. So if you think about it, you have a TON of info in your head that would be helpful to your site visitors. Send me a few paragraphs each month and watch your site crawl up the lists!
   
2. Links: If your site has many links that lead INTO your site AND links that lead OUT of your site, Google will assume that your site is 'important' than a similar site that has few or no links leading in or out of their site, and therefore it will rank your site higher. But how do you get these links? Well, besides manually adding in all of your friends' and clients' weblinks, (this is called 'Reciprocal Linking' and it is a good way to get links, but there is a MUCH BETTER way to create more RELEVANT links into and out of your site. You know those little articles that you are now sending me each month (see previous paragraph)? Let's get some more mileage out of them. Just tell me you want them 'Published' publicly and I will publish them on the main big websites for Publishers. The neat thing here is that those sites have invested the big bucks to advertise their site and your articles along with them. Your articles will always link back to the appropriate (relevant) page on your website, thereby creating a bunch of high-ranked links for you.

A Bucket-full of new content: When you begin to run out of ideas for new articles and content, you can simply go to one of the BIGGEST Article-Publishing sites called "eZineArticles.com". There are billions and billions of articles written by folks just like yourself that are 'experts' at everything under the sun. You can go to their site and find some articles that would be helpful to your site visitors and have it placed into your site. This will keep a constant flow of new content into your site, giving us one more opportunity to ask the Search Engines to re-crawl your site, which will in turn boost your rankings as you go.

A great example of how this works, is this very article. Notice that there are links that go from this page to other pages or even other sites. I wrote it for my website. [New links back to my site: re-crawl and boost me, please.] I added it to my Summer Newsletter. [New links back to my site: re-crawl and boost me, please.] I had it published on the eZine website. [New links back to my site: re-crawl and boost me, please.]  Other huge Publishing websites re-publish all new content from the eZine site. [New links back to my site: re-crawl and boost me, please.] Other people who need content for their sites grab a copy of my article to create new content for their sites. [New links back to my site: re-crawl and boost me, please.] And the beat goes on and on.

As you can see, I wrote this little article and it has daisy-chained into a huge rank-boosting effort. Not bad for one little article, eh?
